BRUXISM - Some Key Questions About The Gnashing Of Teeth


BRUXISM  is the medical / scientific name of  gnashing of teeth and can simply be defined as the action in which a person grind his teeth permanently, at any time of day, but especially during the night sleep periods, when the person is not awair of what he is doing. In fact, BRUXISM creates a scenario almost as bad as snoring. Grinding of teeth has been considered a dental problem because it damages the teeth and cause even worse damage to the face / jaw bones and muscles and also your face.

Some Causes

There seems to be many possible causes for BRUXISM, but dentists seem to designate the following as the main causal factors of BRUXISM

• Stress

• Disappointment

• unexpressed anger

• aggressive personality

• misalignment of teeth

Who is affected?

Gnashing of teeth, it can actually affect anyone young and old, male or female, but is most common in 25-45 years. Its appearance in children usually gives parents disturbing nights. While this is not really considered a major problem with children as it is for adults because they lose the problem that more often than not, taking the child to see a dentist is always a good idea.

Some Symptoms

You can tell if you suffer from bruxism, if:

• Your teeth are painful in the when u awake

• You jaw hurt in the when u awake

• You have pain in the upper jaw when you eat

• your teeth are worn away

• You have unexplained chips in your teeth

• Your teeth are very sensitive to cold ,hot and citrus

• you feel continuous headache

• you always awake during the night.

Any of these symptoms can be a signal on the effects of BRUXISM and supervision of a dentist is the way to go.

Some Effects

Bruxism can have the unwanted (not limited to them by any means) effects:

• damaging of your dentures, and this is most often seems faster than normal wear and tear on the teeth.

• Receding gums and teeth, causing non-alignment and lead to more gnashing of teeth.

• Hurting the jaw, mostly in the morning

• severe headache

• Loss of ability to smile to know your facial muscles were so hardened, it is difficult to relax.

• And finally, can destroy or seriously damage social relations, especially with a partner, because they do not disturb their sleep, but also with others, who have difficulty to understand why you do not have a smile.

So if it turns out that you suffer from BRUXISM, cheer up, you do not have to be shy or afraid to see a dentist right away because it can be treated by both scientific and natural resources.
